We are seeking a Billing Specialist eager to learn in a fast-paced environment. The incumbent will work closely with legal staff to ensure that invoices are generated and issued with accuracy and in a timely manner. 

 The ideal candidate will have a high level of organization skills, a keen attention to detail and strong customer service skills. The candidate must be able to work independently and in a team environment. This will be a great opportunity for a recent Accounting graduate looking to gain experience in the billing department.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Billing tasks including generating invoices according to instructions received 
  • Amending, updating and sending invoices in a timely manner as directed
  • Identify and resolve invoicing issues and customer discrepancies
  • Preparing monthly reports
  • Process bill adjustments and bill reversals based on consultations with or instructions from the Case Analyst or Lawyer
  • Respond to and resolve billing queries or issues on a day-to-day basis
  • Ensuring invoices and supporting documents are forwarded to client in a timely manner, by email or uploading into various e-billing sites.
  • Handling any rejected invoices during e-billing submissions.
  • Completing online status reports and budgets in e-billing systems for various clients in coordination with lawyers and legal assistants.
  • May require assistance for collections from time to time.

  • Need to work independently and as part of the broader Finance team, as required
  • Fast-paced environment, with a high volume of transactions

  • Must be a self-starter and able to work autonomously

REQUIRED BEHAVIOURS, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • University Degree or College Diploma preferably in an Accounting-related field is required
  • Previous work experience in professional services is an asset
  • Exceptional proficiency in MS Office with demonstrated ability to handle advanced functions in MS Excel
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills 
  • Goal oriented, ambitious, driven, and eager to learn
  • Proven competence in investigating, addressing and resolving client issues in a timely manner
  • Strong team player with customer service mentality for both internal and external clients
  • Knowledge of additional languages is an asset
