Senior Manager, Marketing & Business Development
The Senior Manager, Marketing & Business Development is responsible for strengthening the firm’s market position, elevating the profiles of LOLG and its lawyers, and driving revenue‑focused initiatives. Reporting to the Partner responsible for Marketing and the Director, Operations, this role oversees high‑impact communications; ensures the firm is well‑positioned in key rankings, directories, and competitive opportunities; and leads strategic business development programs.
The ideal candidate brings strong legal marketing experience, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to work independently with partners to move projects forward. A commercial mindset, superior writing skills, and a proactive approach are essential.
Primary Responsibilities
Marketing, Communications & Reputation Management
- Lead the firm’s involvement in legal directories and rankings, including Chambers, Legal500, Lexpert, Best Lawyers, Benchmark Litigation, and others
- Act as the firm’s primary liaison with editors and researchers, fostering strong relationships and proactively identifying opportunities to enhance rankings
- Develop best practices and efficient processes for capturing key matters and potential client referees throughout the year in advance of submissions and nominations
- Provide strategic guidance and coach lawyers on interviews, submissions, and profile‑building activities
- Monitor results and conduct competitive analysis, preparing insights and recommendations for firm leadership
- Manage internal and external communications related to awards, rankings, news, and announcements
Business Development
- Lead the development and execution of key firm-level BD planning, including growth priorities, target lists, and measurable objectives
- Partner directly with lawyers to prepare for pitches, RFPs, and strategic pursuits — including content development and value‑proposition refinement
- Conduct market and competitive research to identify new business opportunities, emerging trends, and potential referral relationships
- Collaborate with partners on personal business plans, helping them build visibility, deepen client relationships, and pursue new opportunities
- Track BD pipeline activity, win/loss trends, and ROI on strategic initiatives, reporting insights to firm leadership
- Coordinate firm participation in industry events, sponsorships, and thought‑leadership opportunities that support BD goals
Overall Integrated Marketing and Brand Leadership
- Lead the development of targeted marketing campaigns that reinforce BD priorities and elevate the firm’s brand
- Oversee website content and updates, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and alignment with key priorities
- Ensure brand consistency across all client‑facing materials, proposals, presentations, and digital channels
- Manage LOLG’s social media presence, ensuring timely, strategic content aligned with firm priorities and brand reputation
Requirements & Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in marketing and/or business development in a legal or other professional services firm
- Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat
- Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines
- Self‑starter who thrives in a demanding, fast‑paced environment
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a client‑focused environment
- Exhibits curiosity, initiative, and innovative thinking, surfacing opportunities and proactively acting to improve processes
- College diploma or university degree required; coursework in marketing, business administration, or information/knowledge management strongly preferred
Compensation
Compensation will be determined by a range of considerations, including relevant job knowledge, education, skills and experience. We anticipate the relevant range to be $130,000-$180,000.
