Human Resources Generalist
We are seeking a dedicated, experienced HR Generalist who will play a key role within the HR Department. Reporting to the Director, Human Resources, you will collaborate with the HR team to enhance services and contribute to the continuous improvement across multiple functions, including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, compliance and HR policy development. The ideal candidate will bring a proactive, service-oriented approach and a strong understanding of employment legislation – ideally with experience in a professional services or legal environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Partner with the hiring managers, to lead full-cycle recruitment for administrative positions. including; creating job descriptions and postings, resume screening, interview coordination, reference and back ground checking and offer preparation
- Leads the HR new hire orientation and on-boarding process by preparing schedules, and orientation packages
- Supports the staff off-boarding processes including preparing letters and initiating offboarding checklists and processes
- Support the performance review process through setting the process cycle and providing status updates and reporting throughout by using the evaluation system PerformYard
- Lead the long-term service award, service milestones and employee recognition programs
- Maintains the staff Group RRSP eligibility tracking – sends notifications re: eligibility, confirms and advises payroll of necessary changes
- Draft, update and maintain HR policies and procedures in compliance with employment legislation and firm practices
- Maintains and updates electronic HR employee files keeping records up to date and ensuring accurate documentation
- Maintains the HRIS keeping records up to date and accurate
- Supports the annual compensation process including the review of market salary data, maintaining the master compensation spreadsheet and producing annual total rewards statements for all staff
- Supports benefits administration and employee inquiries during enrolment and life events
- Assist with employee engagement programs and wellness activities
- Leads the annual United Way campaign
- Member of the firm’s social committee – liaising with vendors, making recommendations and event coordination
Qualifications:
- University Degree or College Diploma in Human Resources Management, Business Administration or related field required
- CHRP/CHRL designation or working towards certification
- 5+ years of related experience, with specific experience in conducting full-cycle recruitment and selection
- Solid knowledge of Human Resources best practices, policies, procedures and employment-related
- legislation such as the Ontario Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Code, and Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Experience with HR databases and HRIS systems (e.g. ADP WorkForce Now)
- Strong skills in Office 365. Knowledge of mail merge
- Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and use discretion with highly confidential material
- Exceptional attention to detail and demonstrated organizational skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Team player with excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
