Associate Lawyer
Barriston Law is seeking a high-performing lawyer with 2–6 years of experience to join our Planning and Development team in our Barrie office.
This is an exceptional opportunity to build a focused planning litigation practice with a well-established and highly regarded team. The ideal candidate will have experience appearing before the Ontario Land Tribunal; however, candidates with strong litigation backgrounds or relevant municipal and planning experience will also be considered.
You will play a key role on complex and routine matters, supporting our senior lawyers as well as having responsibility for your own files. Your work will span all aspects of planning litigation, including hearing preparation, working closely with expert witnesses, developing litigation strategy, drafting materials, interpreting legislation, providing strategic advice, and advocating before the Tribunal.
We offer a collaborative environment with hands-on mentorship, early responsibility, and a path for professional growth. This is a role for a lawyer who is looking to deepen their expertise, take ownership of their work, and develop a long-term practice in planning law.
Our firm represents and maintains strong relationships with more than twenty municipalities, conservation authorities, school boards, and major utility companies. We also act for developers and homeowners where no conflicts arise. Our clients are thoughtful, engaged, and collaborative, contributing to a practice that is both intellectually stimulating and genuinely enjoyable.
