Over its 39-year history, the firm has been consistently recognized as one of Canada's top litigation boutiques. Legal publications rate NST's lawyers as leading practitioners in commercial litigation and dispute resolution and the firm has litigated many of British Columbia's largest and most complicated commercial lawsuits.

We are seeking an eDiscovery Manager to join our team on a 16-month parental leave contract. This is a primarily in-office role with some flexibility for remote work. Reporting to the Director of HR & Operations, this role plays a key part in supporting complex litigation matters through the effective use of eDiscovery technology, workflows and project management.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a senior paralegal or analyst role, with strong experience in litigation document management software (preferably Relativity);
  • A Paralegal diploma from a recognized institution;
  • CEDS certification and designation preferred; and
  • Solid knowledge of the BC Supreme Court Civil Rules and experience managing large, complex litigation files;

Technical skills:

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe); and
  • Experience with Relativity, iPro, Worldox/NetDocuments, MS Teams, and Soluno (or similar platforms);

Additional strengths:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities; and
  • Excellent communication and writing skills.

Preference will be given to candidates who are enthusiastic, team-oriented and willing to learn and grow professionally at our firm, even if they do not currently meet every one of the above requirements.

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage eDiscovery workflows across complex litigation matters;
  • Provide technical support and training to lawyers and staff;
  • Oversee document collection, processing, review workflows, and production; and
  • Mentor junior eDiscovery and litigation support staff.

Litigation and eDiscovery support:

  • Analyze pleadings to determine relevant custodians, date ranges, and document scope;
  • Coordinate document collection with clients and third-party providers;
  • Develop and refine search strategies (keywords, filters, date parameters);
  • Manage document review workflows, including de-duplication, tagging and categorization;
  • Import/export data and troubleshoot technical issues;
  • Prepare document lists for production and exchange;
  • Support discovery processes, including preparation of responses and document sets; and
  • Assist in preparation of joint books of documents for trial and arbitration materials (e.g., Redfern schedules, witness materials).

Additional responsibilities:

  • Assist with preparation of books of authorities and legal research (Lexis+);
  • Record billable time and monitor file-related cost considerations; and
  • Stay current on eDiscovery best practices through ongoing professional development.

Why Apply?

This role is well suited to a professional with strong project management instincts and a passion for leveraging technology in complex litigation. You will gain hands-on experience working on some of British Columbia’s most sophisticated disputes, alongside a highly regarded and collaborative team.

NST offers a collegial and supportive environment, with meaningful mentorship and opportunities to further develop your technical and litigation expertise.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $115,000–$135,000, depending on experience and qualifications. NST also offers extended health and dental benefits, a fitness allowance, as well as eligibility for a discretionary bonus at the end of the contract.

Relocation Allowance

NST welcomes applications from candidates across Canada and offers a relocation allowance for those moving to Vancouver from outside British Columbia. The firm provides financial support for reasonable relocation expenses, which may include moving costs, temporary accommodation and travel. Relocation assistance will be tailored to the successful candidate’s circumstances.

How to Apply:

Interested candidates are invited to submit a resume and cover letter to Christine Drag, Director of HR & Operations, at cdrag@nst.ca.

NST wishes to thank all applicants for their interest; however, only those candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.
