eDiscovery Manager (16-Month Contract)
Nathanson, Schachter & Thompson LLP is a dynamic, 16 lawyer firm in downtown Vancouver. Our practice is concentrated in civil and business litigation and arbitration. We are seeking an eDiscovery Manager to join our team on a 16-month parental leave contract. This is a primarily in-office role with some flexibility for remote work. Reporting to the Director of HR & Operations, this role plays a key part in supporting complex litigation matters through the effective use of eDiscovery technology, workflows and project management.
Qualifications, Experience & Skills
The ideal candidate will have:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a senior paralegal or analyst role, with strong experience in litigation document management software (preferably Relativity);
- A Paralegal diploma from a recognized institution;
- CEDS certification and designation preferred; and
- Solid knowledge of the BC Supreme Court Civil Rules and experience managing large, complex litigation files;
Technical skills:
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe); and
- Experience with Relativity, iPro, Worldox/NetDocuments, MS Teams, and Soluno (or similar platforms);
Additional strengths:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities; and
- Excellent communication and writing skills.
Preference will be given to candidates who are enthusiastic, team-oriented and willing to learn and grow professionally at our firm, even if they do not currently meet every one of the above requirements.
Responsibilities
Core responsibilities:
- Lead and manage eDiscovery workflows across complex litigation matters;
- Provide technical support and training to lawyers and staff;
- Oversee document collection, processing, review workflows, and production; and
- Mentor junior eDiscovery and litigation support staff.
Litigation and eDiscovery support:
- Analyze pleadings to determine relevant custodians, date ranges, and document scope;
- Coordinate document collection with clients and third-party providers;
- Develop and refine search strategies (keywords, filters, date parameters);
- Manage document review workflows, including de-duplication, tagging and categorization;
- Import/export data and troubleshoot technical issues;
- Prepare document lists for production and exchange;
- Support discovery processes, including preparation of responses and document sets; and
- Assist in preparation of joint books of documents for trial and arbitration materials (e.g., Redfern schedules, witness materials).
Additional responsibilities:
- Assist with preparation of books of authorities and legal research (Lexis+);
- Record billable time and monitor file-related cost considerations; and
- Stay current on eDiscovery best practices through ongoing professional development.

Compensation
The salary range for this position is $115,000–$135,000, depending on experience and qualifications. NST also offers extended health and dental benefits, a fitness allowance, as well as eligibility for a discretionary bonus at the end of the contract.
Relocation Allowance
NST welcomes applications from candidates across Canada and offers a relocation allowance for those moving to Vancouver from outside British Columbia. The firm provides financial support for reasonable relocation expenses, which may include moving costs, temporary accommodation and travel.
