Intermediate Accountant
Henein Hutchison Robitaille LLP is seeking a detail-oriented Accountant with approximately 3 years of legal accounting experience to join a boutique Toronto law firm. Reporting to the Director of Finance, this role is responsible for managing financial records, trust accounting, billing, and compliance with legal accounting standards. Experience using Soluno or similar legal accounting software is strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Director of Finance in maintaining the general ledger, post journal entries, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
- Perform monthly account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes
- Prepare financial statements and management reports
- Analyze financial data and provide variance analysis
- Support budgeting and forecasting activities
- Assist with internal and external audits by preparing documentation and schedules
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies and internal controls
- Review and support accounts payable and accounts receivable processes when required
- Maintain accurate financial records in the company’s accounting system
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and efficiency
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field
- 2-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a law firm or professional services environment.
- Progress toward or completion of CPA designation preferred
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting
- Knowledge of legal trust accounting procedures is an asset
- Experience using Soluno or other legal accounting software
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
