Job Title: Commercial Litigation Assistant with clerking responsibilities
Summary: Dickinson Wright LLP is a full-service business law firm located in the financial district in downtown Toronto. Staff designated at Dickinson Wright LLP (“the Firm”) as Commercial Litigation Legal Assistants are responsible for providing professional support services to Lawyers and Clients of the Firm as assigned or otherwise necessary, on a full-time basis, unless otherwise arranged with the Firm.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential duties and responsibilities of staff designated as Commercial Litigation Assistants at the Firm include but are not limited to:
- Preparation of court documents, actions, applications, affidavits of documents, requests to admit, motion records, factums etc;
- Coordinating Commercial List/Court attendances;
- Scheduling appointments, court dates, examinations for discovery, mediations; and
- Communicating effectively with clients.
Qualifications, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Seven+ years’ experience in the areas of litigation and bankruptcy and insolvency;
- Strong computer skills including knowledge of MSWord, ACL and CaseLines;
- Excellent spelling, grammar and proofreading skills;
- Highly organized and detailed oriented with the ability to manage multiple matters;
- Client focused;
- Team player with a positive attitude;
- Able to manage the administrative needs of the practices.
Working Conditions:
Normal law office environment with little exposure to noise, dust, temperature. We offer a competitive compensation and benefit package.
