Dealing with workplace harassment and sexual harassment has become increasingly challenging and risky for employers to navigate. The awareness of high-profile cases, #Metoo campaign activity, enhanced legislative protections and expanded employee entitlements have emboldened those experiencing and observing this misconduct to bring their issues forward. As 2018 has brought potential fines for OHSA violations tripling for organizations and quadrupling for managers, it is critical for organizations to understand how to proactively contain and address this conduct.
Through an interactive case study, attendees will:
- Review key concepts and requirements related to workplace harassment and sexual harassment
- Identify how employers typically mishandle harassment and sexual harassment issues and risks in the workplace and create costly consequences for the organization
- Explore complexities of workplace harassment and sexual harassment complaints and incidents, which can create challenges for internal workplace investigators
- Explore practical strategies and methods to effectively set conduct expectations within the workplace to proactively mitigate harassment-related risks
