Manager, Human Resources
You are suited for this role if you have a minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Manager, Human Resources and a University degree (CHRL is an asset). You have credibility, are able to effectively influence others, have strong business acumen. Client service oriented and results focused, you handle a large and varied workload. This position reports to the Director, Human Resources (Ontario). As Manager, Human Resources, you will lead an enthusiastic and committed team in the provision of advice and guidance with respect to services, policies, processes, programs and projects that support the employee life cycle including:
HR Operations: Execute the function’s strategies and goals, as set by the Director, focusing on operational excellence and client service. Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the team and the technology we use. Regularly review our processes and practices with the mindset of continuously improving what we do and how we do it. Recommend opportunities for increased efficiencies and cost savings.
Management of HR Team: Foster a motivating team environment conducive to a high performing and collaborative team. Set individual and team goals. Monitor individual and team performance and take action when required. Develop and motivate staff.
HR Policies, Procedures and Legislative Compliance: Provide guidance to the HR team and the Firm’s Managers on the interpretation and application of Firm policies and legislation, as well as any legal implications involved. Keep current with, and research, upcoming changes in legislation and ensure changes are implemented and communicated.
Talent Acquisition: Execute on our recruitment strategy and manage the recruitment function. Recommend creative and innovative ways to source, attract, and recruit candidates. Assist with recruitment as needed.
Training: Work with our learning team to support the career development and skill relevancy of all Firm members. Conduct HR-related training and presentations to stakeholders. Facilitate training and information meetings for the HR team. Oversee and participate in the onboarding, orientation and training for HR team members.
Performance: Manage the Region’s performance process and provide guidance to the HR team in supporting managers in effectively and fairly addressing performance concerns. Escalation point for more complex or sensitive employee relations issues.
Compensation and Benefits: Manage the Region’s compensation and benefits programs and processes, including participation on the Firm’s Job Evaluation Committee.
Budget and Administration: Provide input into the HR budget, pre-approve overtime, and responsible for quality control and sign off on relevant paperwork and documentation. Review, interpret and analyze data and report results to Director.
Projects: - Manage HR projects and/or participate on national and cross-functional project teams, and conduct research on behalf of the Director, as required. Chair internal meetings involving multiple functional groups.
